Digital Meter Endesa

This is the new digital meter that the Endesa has installed to replace all old meters in Spain. The Endesa did this automatically. The installation of the new meter was totally free. But the Endesa does charge a small monthly rental fee.

Am I paying too much basic charge? (See paragraph below)

What changed with the new digital meter?

In Spain you do not only pay for the electrical consumption (kWh), but also for the contracted electrical capacity (kW). The new digital meter will switch off when you use more than the contracted electrical power.

How high is my contracted electrical power?

You will find the contracted electrical power on your bill from the Endesa with the term “Potencia contratada” in kW. Common are for example, 3,3kW, 5,75kW, 9,2kW,…

What was different with the old meter?

The old meter did not switch off when you were using too much electricity simultaneously. Instead a special circuit breaker (ICP) tripped in your distribution box. Often this ICP was bridged or a bigger one was installed. As a result you could use as much power at the same time as you liked. This is not possible anymore with the new digital meter.

How much electrical capacity (kW) do I really need?

We would be happy to check your electrical installation and let you know how high your contracted electrical capacity should be with the Endesa.

Am I paying too much basic charge?

We are able to read out your electrical consumption peaks of the last 3 months and let you know if you could possibly decrease your contracted electrical capacity. As a result you could save money on a monthly basis. Your basic charge could be lowered.

Do not unnecessarily give away money to the Endesa!!

We would be happy to help you!
